Rohan and Fatima met during dental school in New York. They ultimately moved to Chicago and when Rohan surprised Fatima with a simple, yet sweet proposal, we took their engagement photos last year at one of our favorite locations: Milton Lee Olive Park and Navy Pier.
They both come from different backgrounds. Fatima is Muslim and American raised, whereas Rohan comes from a Hindu family and was born and raised in Mumbai, India. However, they have found love, and their personalities are a true blend of their cultures along with their sense of humor—and deep affection for their cats. They also like Seinfeld, Indian buffets and going to Trader Joe’s, so they’re our kind of people!
We had a chance to first shoot their court house wedding at DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton, Illinois before their reception at Ashyana Banquets in Downers Grove, Illinois with family and friends. We first took their portraits at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois, a 500-acre park that is 30 miles west of Chicago. It is the former estate of Joseph Medill and his grandson Colonel Robert R. McCormick, publishers of the Chicago Tribune. The details of the reception were adorned with white and gold and they couldn’t have picked a better venue than Ashyana Banquets!
