Chicago Wedding at Lacuna Lofts: Bill & Rachel

Bill and Rachel got married at the artistic Lacuna Lofts at the Blank Canvas Gallery in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. It is a multi-purpose cultural arts center, events venue and the perfect place for a rustic wedding! Built in 1897 as what once was the world’s largest macaroni factory, the 5 story, 250,000 sq. ft. spaced has been carefully restored using as much of the original building materials as possible. Artwork from talented Chicago artists can be found all over the building, which gives the venue a quirky charm.

Bill and Rachel used to work at the same retail store, however, they rarely crossed paths. One day, Bill stopped into Rachel’s second job where she was a waitress with some of his friends. Rachel stopped by to say hello and Bill mentioned how he would be quitting the other job soon and extended an invite for a small going away party with details to share later. Fast forward a few years and Rachel comes home and sees rose petals directing her towards a computer in the living room which said, “Don’t freak out, just follow these instructions and let me know when you’re finished.” Rachel knew she was getting engaged. She was instructed to play a game that had a series of photos from their former town of DeKalb, Illinois and along with the photos there were a series of quiz questions asking what memory was affiliated with that location. Rachel got the majority of them wrong, but the last photo was of the Naperville Riverwalk Amphitheater, which has special significance. Rachel was instructed to meet Bill there where she was asked the final quiz question, “Where did I ask you to marry me?” And then he proposed!

Bill and Rachel are very similar people, both Type A and no nonsense! They have an overall phenomenal understanding of what the other needs because of their similarities and have made open communication a priority in keeping their relationship strong. Amazing right?! Rachel adores bills’ sense of humor, his patience and understanding along with showcasing his romantic and sentimental side. Rachel also adores Bill’s sense of humor, her motivation to work hard and her genuineness. We had a great time capturing this couple’s wedding day along with those who took the time to celebrate with them from near and far. We shared their engagement shoot in Lincoln Park last year, but now check out their awesome wedding day!
